To assist with implementing A Better Choice: Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Health Facilities (A Better Choice Strategy, 2019), Queensland hospitals and health services (HHSs) are being supported to use FoodChecker to assess the foods supplied in their retail food outlets and vending machines.
FoodChecker is a Victorian Government website that classifies foods and drinks according to Victorian Healthy Choices guidelines. These guidelines align to A Better Choice Food Classification Guide (PDF) for foods only, not drinks. Queensland Health is supporting Queensland HHSs to use FoodChecker until 31 December 2020.
Please note: FoodChecker should not be used by Queensland HHSs to assess drinks. Any drinks assessed on FoodChecker may not be classified correctly in line with A Better Choice Strategy.
